Personal Life
Eleanor Dumont was a french little lady from New Orleans. Some wondered how she had a french accent but says she was born in New Orleans. Rumors went around how she was originally from France but no one really knows. She showed up in San Francisco in 1849 where she soon found herself working as a card dealer at the Bella Union Hotel. That being her first job she soon turned into something more than just an employee. Eleanor later moved to Nevada City for the gold at the time of the Gold Rush. She wasn't very close with her parents, she left home at 18 and wondered out scheming men for money in the game o f gambling. She opened up quite a few casinos in Nevada City at the time. Eleanor really never dated anyone. She was more of a lone wolf all on her own, very independent woman. Although she met Jack McKnight around her late 20's. They got married and she moved out of the city and bought a ranch with her new husband. But a year later he steals all her money and leaves her with nothing but an empty house. Angrier than ever she scours looking for him waiting to put a bullet in his gut. She doesn't find him til years later in a saloon and right then and there she shoots him twice in the gut just like she promised. She receives no punishment for her killing and continues to go on with her gambling. Year by year she is loosing more games loosing her special luck and is owing more and more money. She moves to each town changing her name and when things get bad, that's her queue to leave that town on to the next. Her last game was her worst game ever. She got a loan of 300 dollars. But she lost all that money in one game. She was tired of all the money she owed, all the people out to get her for her ripping them off. So she did the unspeakable, she committed suicide. Up on a hill by a big rock, she overdosed on a bottle of morphine. She wrote on a note "I'm tired of life", and it ended. Too late to save her, honored her by nominating her into the Hall of Fame.
